2nd & 3rd Grade students at Primrose Hill are invited to explore their creativity and engage in the art of theatre, dance and music through an after-school program sponsored by their school’s PTO. Professional artists from Arts Alive!, a Barrington based non-profit organization, will work with students to guide and direct them through the process of learning, rehearsing and performing in an ensemble musical production. In addition, they will be introduced to and review the basic skills of performing for theatre and begin to refine those skills through practice and individual exploration. Fun developmental improv games will keep kids on their toes and smiling! Students will dig deeper into playing characters, interpreting story as a group and refining their stage presence. We will rehearse scenes, songs, and choreography and the program will conclude with Our 2nd & 3rd Grade Celebration of Children in Theatrical Showstoppers Festival-Style weekend featuring I Won’t Grow Up – “Magic” presented by the Primrose Hill School. Young performers will bring plenty of magic to the stage as they explore scenes and songs from Broadway hits “Mary Poppins” and “Tuck Everlasting”. You will be enchanted as they ‘Step In Time’ to some classics – new and old.

Registration: Registration Opens Thursday, March 2nd at 6pm – Wednesday, March 8th. Registration will be available at www.artsalivebarrington.org and an email will be sent when registration opens. The Program will be limited to 35 students per rehearsal day (70 students total). Registration will be on a first come first serve basis. Any student who would like to register beyond these spots will be placed on a waitlist and contacted if any spots become available. Registration will close on March 8th, or as soon as all spaces are filled. We will have a waitlist after the program has filled. Your child may only participate in their respective school’s program.

Auditions:  Everyone gets a part! Auditions will be held on your student’s selected rehearsal day on the following dates:
*Monday, March 20th Afterschool-4:30pm in the Primrose Hill Multipurpose Room
*Thursday, March 23rd Afterschool-4:30pm in the Primrose Hill Multipurpose Room

Rehearsals: Rehearsals will take place from March 20th – June 1st. See rehearsal days below that you will be able to select from at registration (No rehearsals on Holidays or BPS PD Days.):

Performance/ Tech Week Dates:

All tech rehearsals/ performances will be held at Barrington High School. Actor call times TBD.

Program Fee: $160 for all registrants. Sibling discount of $25 off second and subsequent students’ registration fees for in the same 2nd/ 3rd Grade School Program. Scholarships are available. All Scholarship information & applications are available as part of the online registration. The deadline for scholarship applications is March 5th.
